“Hands and Disco Ball” photo from the early days of DFA Records & LCD Soundsystem, taken by Ruvan Wijesooriya. May 2005 DFA & LCD decided to throw a party at a midtown dance club in NYC called Downtime. It helped define a time, a sound and the ethos of a small label & band who were successfully getting their friends and fans drunk with major label money that was supposed to be spent on a fancy music video. There was an incredible sense of community and the energy of people really going for it - which is what the image represents. “Hands and Disco Ball” was eventually used as a poster insert for the European 7” single version of “Disco Infiltrator.” It also established the beginning of a working relationship between LCD and photographer Ruvan Wijesooriya.
